Baptism WWC161 – Tenia’s “All About Occasions” Challenge

Hello again

This week, Tenia is hosting our All About Occasions Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday.

Recently, I needed a Baptism card for a little boy, so it made me think a bit.  Finally, I settled on this design.  I hope you like it.

To start, I googled a cross and dove image and printed it twice on white card.

From the first copy, I coloured the edges of the cross in blue and cut it out.

On the second, I added some light grey shading to the dove and cut out the image.  Using raised tape, I layered it up on top of the cross.

After creating and printing off the Sentiment for the card, I cut out the card front with MFT Die-namics Blue Prints 26 border die.  Some very simple blue shading with Distress Ink went in the middle area and misted lightly with water.

I then layered up a SSS  Stacked Stars white die cut and then the cross, over the shaded area.

I was quite happy with the way it turned out. Lovely clean lines.

Hope you have some fun with our new challenge.  Don’t forget to get some more inspiration from the other wonderful Design Team members over on our blog.

I live in sunny Queensland, Australia with my husband and daughter. Since I was a child, I have always loved to create and have enjoyed all kinds of crafts, sewing and painting. China painting helped develop my understanding of colour and design. Over the last few years card making has taken up a major part of my crafting time as I love to play with new techniques and mediums. Since beginning my blog, entering various challenges has encouraged me to grow my skills and creativity.

  1. Great job creating this serene communion card. Ilike that you copied and created your own images for the cross and dove off the internet as well as your sentiment. We don’t always have access to special occasion stamps such as bar mitzvahs and communions, so it’s wonderful to see someone use the creative technical tools around us to achieve their goals. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing the how to’s for this card Helen.

  2. What a gorgeous card, Helen! The colours caught my attention first. Love the combination of white and blue. What a clever idea to print your images and then incorporate them into the design like that. I love that wonderful die-cut of stars. Everything about this card is so special and so perfect for a Baptism.
