WWC172 – Anything Goes Challenge

P1070481

Hello and welcome to our next Watercooler Wednesday – Anything Goes – Challenge. is our wonderful host this week.

Image may contain: text

My card features this beautiful Penny Black -Slapstick – Gentle Whisper stamp.  I just love this beautiful image and it makes it so easy to colour.

This time I coloured the image with Distress ink and sprayed it very lightly with water before stamping on watercolour paper.  It is then only a matter of working with water and a brush to pull the colour out to form the flowers and leaves.  Where I felt it needed a bit more colour, I added it with a brush.

After adding a few black splatters, I added the Hero Arts wood block  stamp – Poetic Prints – Chinese Happiness Wish in black ink. It was finished with a black card cut from My Favorite Things – Die Stitched Basic Edges.

Thanks so much for stopping in.  Please remember to check out the wonderful work on our blog.

I hope you can join in our challenge this week.
Enjoy

Helen

For You Memory Box Die Cuts

I was lucky enough to be selected as winner at Die Cut Divas May Challenge.  Thanks so much!

P1070477Hello again

I was  really happy with the way this card turned out. It’s just a shame that the photo doesn’t show the beautiful background as it’s so shiny and has such a pretty design IRL.

I started with a panel of paper that I had inked with Distress Inks to form a ombre look. It was then clear heat embossed using Hero Arts Leafy Vines background stamp, before washing the card with water to remove some of the ink. To finish, I added some more clear embossing to give the shine.

P1070490I hope this close up gives a bit of an idea as to the pattern background.

After attaching to a card front, I arranged Memory Box Shrewsbury Stem die cuts – one in black and one in white, as well as some butterflies from Memory Box – Butterfly Delights dies. All die cuts were covered with Wink of Stella either in white or black.

The sentiment is from a little old set by Sara Coyle.

Just Because – Magnolia

P1070458Welcome again

My card tonight features one of my favourite Altnew stamp sets – Magnolias For Her, which I Distress water coloured before fussy cutting the images.

On the square background panel, I smooshed some Distress Ink and gold ink along with some splatters towards the centre and adding it to the card front. I then added the gold Spellbinders – Captivating Squares die cut on the diagonal.

Using a piece of scrap vellum, I  roughly traced  and cut out the outline of the flower.  After folding is in half I attached it behind the flower spray and added the whole piece to the corner of the die cut.P1070459

To finish, I gold embossed the sentiment from Altnew’s  – Just Because set.

I was pleased with the way it worked out.

P1070472

Hello and welcome to the new “All About Christmas” Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday. Heidi is our host this week.

My card tonight is very simple in classic white and gold. It is always one of my favourite combinations.

On a circle die cut, I gold heat embossed the star stamp from Papermania – Stamp Duo – Dotty Decorations Set and edged it with gold.

Spellbinders, Celebrations Rosette wall- 3D Embossing Folder forms the background. After embossing I put gold paint along the edges, as well as flecks across the panel, to add some interest.

I attached the circle die cut over the largest rosette shape on the background as well as the Sentiment from Verve – Glad Tidings Stamp Set and a small gold bow.

Thanks so much for visiting. Please be sure to check out the wonderful cards from our Design Team on our blog.
I look forward to seeing what you create for this week’s challenge.
Have fun!

WWC170 – Penny’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge

As and update. I was lucky enough for this card to be selected as Top 3 in Stamping Sensations May Challenge – Close to Nature.

Hello and welcome to this week’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday. The Penny is our lovely host this week.
Image may contain: one or more people and textI wanted to try something different this week. Recently a friend made the sea change.  I must admit to being very jealous, as I just love the water. So I decided to try for a seaview where you could sit, relax and enjoy!

So I hope you enjoy my card.

I stamped images from an old “There She Goes – By the Sea”  stamp set to form the scene in Distress Antique Linen. This week’s yellow, sky blue and grey colour challenge over at Less is More fitted just perfectly.

The watercolouring uses only – Denim Jeans, Wild Honey and Hickory Smoke. It was just a matter of building up some layers of colour or adding in some grey to get the variation of  shades.  Lucky for me the wet colours bled just enough on one section of the horizon to form some island effect.

The sentiment came from a great SSS Set Best Hugs.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Please don’t forget to check all the wonderful creations from our great Design Team at our Blog.

I hope you can join in this week! Have some creative fun!

Helen

WWC169 – Charlotte’s “All About Occasions” Challenge

Hello again

Welcome to another great  challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday.  This week, the talented Charlotte is hosting the “All About Occasions” Challenge.

  • P1070419

My card uses the beautiful image from 49 and Market: Designer Series – Gabi’s Haute Couture Stamp Set.

I began by stamping the image in black Versafine Ink onto white card stock.

After putting some Distress Ink and some Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders on my mat and spritzing it lightly with water, I used some thin acetate to pick up some ink and transfer it to the card front.  The colour was slowly built up until I was happy with the placement and depth of colour.  I also added some clear Wink of Stella to a few sections of her tutu where I thought it could use a little more shimmer!

It is so difficult to pick up the shine in a photo!  It’s so pretty IRL!

The front panel was then cut using Cutplorations – Wonky Rectangle Dies.

The sentiment is from Altnew’s ‘Fresh Freesia’.

Please be sure to check out the wonderful inspiration over at our blog!

I’m looking forward to seeing all your clever creations.

WWC168 – Helen’s Feminine “Anything Goes” Challenge

I’m thrilled to have been chosen as a Favourite at CAS(E) this sketch!  Thanks so much for the honour!

P1070407

Welcome

It’s time for the next Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday and I’m thrilled to say that I have the honour of hosting this week’s Feminine ‘Anything Goes’ Challenge!

Image may contain: one or more people and textI decided to try something different this week. I’m not sure if I love it or not!

My idea was to have some gold embossed flowers and use some very wet, loose watercolouring.  A big change from my usual style of watercolouring!

As I looked through my stamps, I decided that Altnew’s – Hibiscus Bouquet set was perfect as the images have a lovely fluid outline.  They were gold heat embossed onto some Tim Holtz Distress Watercolour card.  Kuretake Gansai Tambi ‘deep pink’ water colour gave me the rich colour I wanted for my flowers with ‘evergreen’ for the leaves.

To pull it all together, I added a light wash of blue as well as a little of the pink and green around the images, which faded out towards the middle.

The sentiment is from Altnew’s ‘Label Love’ stamped in Memento ‘Gray Flannel’. I added a little gold embossing to the opposite edges to give it a less formal look.

I know that the very talented Design Team have lots of wonderful and inspiring creations for you to check out on our blog.

I hope you can join us this week!
