Sparkle & Shine Butterflies Hero Arts

P1070608

Welcome to the September Watercolour Challenge at Happy Little Stampers. Each month we have a fun twist for you to use if you wish or it can just be a free anything goes watercolour.  This month the twist is ‘butterflies’.

For my card, I decide to gold heat emboss 3 different butterflies from Hero Arts -Fluttering Stamp Set, watercolour with Distress Inks and fussy cut them.

After adding a Distress Ink wash to the card front and adding the sentiment from HA Special Note of Thanks stamp set, it was adhered to the card.

I played with the arrangement of  the butterflies on the front of the card until I was happy with the effect.

There are lots of great inspiration from our wonderful design team over on our blog. I hope you will find the time to join our challenge this month.

Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE.
Thanks so much for visiting

Lovely Birthday with Concord & 9th

P1070606

Hello there

I recently purchased Concord & 9th Detailed Blooms Die, which I just loved. So I decided to create a shaped card that used the die as the feature.

After cutting the die from some white card stock, I used it to draw around the front panel allowing a small border and fussy cut it.

I then started to build up the colour on the front panel using SAI Japanese Water colour pens (similar to Zig pens) in 2 shades of pink and some Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Dust – Rich Gold. Once I was happy with the intensity of colour, it was left to dry.

The die cut was also washed using the same colours.

The sentiment was gold heat embossed using Concord & 9th – Hello Lovely and Happy Day stamp sets.

The front panel was then adhered to the card front and the top was again fussy cut.

Finally the die cut was added to the front and some small gems finished the card.

I was really happy with the results.  I hope you like it too.

Time to Celebrate – 4 Sunny Scenes

P1070579

Hello again

My card features an old wood block mini set by a local artist, I bought when I first started stamping.  It is still a favourite.

The scenes were stamped, Distress water coloured and fussy cut.

I felt a happy sunny background would be perfect.  I used a stencil with Distress Ink. As there wasn’t a centre, I cut a circle in some paper and added an inked centre.

Then it was just a matter of adding the scenes and the sentiment from MFT Celebrate with Cake set.

I hope you like it too!

Have a good weekend

Helen

Welcome!

Today I have the pleasure of  hosting the “All About Holidays” Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday!

This week I decided to make another Christmas card, but wanted something similar to a decoration.

After  sketching a moon shape, I used Distress Inks to make a night sky, then added some splatters of water as well as white paint.  I finished with a light spray of  glimmer mist.

From there I cut the largest star from MFT Die-namics Star STAX from the middle of the card front.  As I wanted a border, I cut a second from another sheet of card, measured around it and cut the slightly bigger frame and finished it with white Wink of Stella, to ensure it stands out.

The scene was made using  Memory Box – Evergreen Trio die and a hand cut hill.  All had Wink of Stella added.

The gold heat embossed sentiment is from Verve – Glad Tidings.

I was happy with the way it turned out.

Hopefully, you will find time to join in this week’s challenge.  Don’t forget to check out the great Design Team cards over on our blog.

WWC183 – Gail’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge

P1070565

Welcome to another challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday!  This week it’s  Gail’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge.

Image may contain: one or more people and text

My card features an image from Penny Black – Party Friends and  balloons from MFT Beary Special Birthday, which are coloured with a mix of Distress Inks and Distress Oxides and fussy cut. Thread was added to the balloons to add interest.

The brick background uses a Darice EF.  Using Distress Oxide with a fine brush, I added the mortar to the bricks.

The Winnie & Walter Cheers  Cutaway Die was cut from a piece featuring Distress Oxide smooching.

To finish, I stamped small sentiments from Winnie & Walter’s  – Party On Set on the bricks.

I was quite happy with the outcome. It would make a great fun card for any males in the family – either young or older!

This month’s challenge over at Penny Black and More requires ‘B’ items.  Mine include: bricks, blue bike, black cat, blue balloons and boxes (some blue). So many!

Don’t forget to check out the great projects from the Design Team this week over at our blog.  I hope you have a chance to join the challenge this week.

Cheers

Happy Birthday Hero Arts Background

P1070560Hello and welcome

Today I have been playing with some Distress Oxide Inks.

I started with white heat embossing a border from Hero Arts  Garden Borders 3 times. In between, some mini’s from Hero Arts ‘Oh Happy Days’ stamp set.

I used the Distress oxides for the background.   Using brush and water, I removed colour from the images and then added more colour (again Distress Inks).  Then some Wink of Stella and  Glossy Accents, as well as some water splatters to add to the background.

The sentiment die is from Cutplorations with added Glossy Accents and the words from SSS Christmas 3×4 Clear Stamp Set.

Not sure if I like it or not?  But it was good playing with the inks to see what they do.

Have a great week

WWC182 – Tristan’s “All About Occasions” Challenge

P1070556Welcome

Today I’m back with the new Challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday. Tristan’s “All About Occasions” Challenge leaves you lots of opportunity to join in!

Image may contain: textMy card is a one layer with some masking and lots of fun with inks.

I played with a couple of variations but was happy with the way this one turned out.  It uses Altnew Painted Flowers which were loosely water coloured using Abandoned Coral Distress Ink.

The flowers were masked while the top section was stamped with Hero Arts- Friend background stamp using Weathered Wood Distress Ink (with sections wiped off). Smooshing with more Weathered Wood ink  makes the background appear distressed.

The area under the flowers was smooshed using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and stamped with Simon Says Stamps – Big Scripty Greetings.

Don’t forget to check out the wonderful creations from the rest of the Design Team over on our blog.

Thanks for popping in and have a great week!

Celebrate with a Helpful Dog Gift Tag

P1060166 (2)Hello and welcome

I’m here to share a large tag which doubles as a gift tag holder.  It features one of my favourite old stamps.

The dog stamp comes from an old Andrea Jayne, Hot Diggity Dog stamp set, I have featured before.  I just love this fun image!  So my dog!!!  It is copic coloured. and cut using Die-namics  Pierced Square STAX die.

The background DP and card front was cut using MFT Die-namics Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX. The Celebrate sentiment is a Couture Creations die cut, cut in black with black Wink of Stella.

The image square was attached on 3 sides allowing  room at the top for some tissue paper and a gift card. I also added some little offcuts of curling ribbon to finish.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Have a great week

WWC181 – Kath’s Feminine “Anything Goes” Challenge

P1070446

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today I’m here with the new challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday  – Kath’s Feminine “Anything Goes” Challenge.  I hope you will join us this week.

Image may contain: one or more people and textRecently, I needed a very  special 40th birthday card.

I just love these Julie Nutting dolls! As they are a larger than normal stamp, my card is also larger than usual, but I always think this adds to the overall elegance.

I chose to Copic colour this elegant lady and after making a mask for the front dress panel, and stamped Hero Arts  ‘Leafy Vines’ in Lightning Black Brilliance Ink to add some subtle detail.

The sentiment is from SSS ‘Big Birthday Wishes’.

To finish, I added a strip of  gold  and  a wider strip of black glitter paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by and please head over to our blog to check out the inspiration offered by the rest of the Design Team.

Happy creating

Cheers
