WWC214 – Marsha’s “All About Occasions” Challenge

Hello and welcome

This week over at Watercooler Wednesday our challenge is  Marsha’s “All About Occasions” Challenge.

I have decided to start off my Christmas stash with this cute little card.

It features Spellbinders Christmas Kitten stamped on a panel cut with MFT Wonky MFT Wonky Stitch Square Stax . Even  though it is a shaded stamp I decided to copic colour the image after stamping in light grey ink.  I then restamped the bauble, coloured, fussy cut and re-attached it for some added interest and a little dimension.

I fell in love with this realistic little kitten the first time I saw it.   As I wanted it to be the main focus, I kept the card simple by adding it to a square card with EF background.

The sentiment is from SSS Christmas 3 x 4.

I hope you like it too.   Be sure to head over to our blog for lots of inspiration from the rest of the Design Team. Good luck this week.

Thanks  for stopping by and have a great week

Cheers

Helen

WWC213 – Karen’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge

Hello

Welcome to the new challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday. This week is Karen’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge.

Image may contain: one or more people and textI had been reading a recent post over at Art Impressions and liked the idea of a ‘flip’ card. I didn’t have the die, but thought I’d give it a go on my own.

After measuring the card front to ensure it would fit all the elements, I cut a ‘u’ shape to give me the flip panel. The photo below shows the flip panel.

AI’s Dog Stackers stamp was copic coloured, and perfect for my take on the ‘flip’ card.  I love this fun stamp. You can’t help but smile at all those cute dogs!

I then made 3 panels layered won black. One for the front, and one for each side of the flip panel. I made them to fit the stamps / dies, I was using.

I die cut ‘Happy  Birthday’ from local company (Catchy Crafts), another favourite being vertical which allows for lots of different placements and adding something special. It was attached to  the extended section of the front flap.

The sentiment for the back of the ‘flip’ was W Plus 9 – Fierce and Fabulous set, as well as 2 thin red strips.

Inside the card, I  added black card to give extra strength as the card is getting heavier and the folds at the sides are a little narrow. I also stamped and coloured the dog from the bottom of the stack and added a computer generated extra sentiment.

I was so happy with the way this card turned out and look forward to trying the ‘flip’ idea again.  I hope you liked it too.

Don’t forget to head over to our blog for lots of inspiration!  Good luck!

Have a great week

Cheers

My card today is a cute baby card.

The background is one of my favourite Spellbinders Celebrations,  3D Framed Canvas  Embossing Folder.

The little cluster of  soft toys is a little set I picked up on a throw out table. It was copic coloured and fussy cut.

The sentiment is Memory Box Craft Dies Baby Script. The work love comes from SSS Best Hugs stamp set.

I hope you find the time to join us this week.  Don’t forget to check out more inspiration at our blog.

Hello and Welcome

I was thrilled to be invited as Guest Designer for CASology this week! Their cue card for the week is  EARTH!  It will be very exciting to see how you interpret this cue!

Week 335 - Earth It took me a while to decide how interpret the cue, EARTH, on a CAS card.

My first thought was ‘earth’ as in soil – which has such a vital role in supporting life on Earth!

I started with the largest Quadrangle Frame die cut from SSS Stamps, using the black frame and a white inner section.

On the inner piece, I stamped  a couple of small floral images from Hero Arts January Monthly Kit for 2019. Using Distress Ink, I water coloured them, along with the sky and the soil (earth) around the plants.

I also selected the watering can image from the same Hero Arts set, and a flower pot from an old Hero Arts wood block stamp which were water coloured and fussy cut.

The frame was then added to the card front, and then the watering can and the flower pot were stepped down from the end of the frame.

I put a light wash of colour at the bottom of these, to ground them.

The strip sentiment is from Mama Elephant – Occasional Labels set.

After looking at the card for a while, I felt it needed something to stop the eye running off the card front, so I added a thin black strip towards the bottom.

I was pleased with the way it turned out.  I hope you like it too.

I hope you will visit the CASology blog and check out more inspiration from the amazing Design Team.

Thanks so much for visiting

Have a great week

Helen

Hello and welcome

It’s time for the March Happy Little Stampers – Anything goes with Dies Challenge!

A couple of weeks ago, I had some fun playing with some alcohol inks, so one of these  pieces features as the background for this week’s challenge card.

After selecting my alcohol ink panel, I added a frame using the 2 largest hexagonal dies from ‘Fancy That’.

I added die cut Memory Box Shrewsbury Stem die cuts – one in black and one in gold cut to fit in the frame. I selected the colours to stand out against the pink / white background.

After adhering this panel to the card front, I added the  sentiment using Winnie & Walter ‘The Big, the Bold and Party Cutaways’ dies, again cut in black and gold.  They are joined to give the look of the black shadow behind the gold, similar to the flower stems inside the frame.

I was pleased with the way this card turned out, as it’s perfect for several occasions, not just birthdays.

Please head over to our blog and check out the wonderfully inspirational work by the rest of the Design Team!  I hope you will find the time to join our challenge this month.  Good luck!

In the first 3 months of the year, I seem to have so many birthdays!  Does that happen to you too?

So my card tonight is one I made for a dear lady who is very special to me and to my family.  I hope she liked it.

I started by stamping Altnew’s Engagement Wishes stamp set in light Distress Ink for no line colouring and then watercoloured using Wilted Violet Distress Ink, before fussy cutting the flower.

This flower was so big, bold and pretty, I felt it needed take centre stage, and chose not to add any leaves.  I used gold glitter card stock, to cut my new Altnew’s Fine Frames Rectangle Die cut and ‘hugs’ from Winnie & Walter’s The Big, the Bold and Friends Cutaways, to finish this CAS card.

I liked the simplicity of this card and I hope you like it too.

Don’t forget to check out the wonderful inspiration for this challenge over at our blog.

Have a good week

Cheers

Thinking of You (Splatters and Leaves)

2019-02-28 02.56.17

Hello and welcome

I’m back with a card for HLS Watercolour Challenge for March 2019 with an optional twist of MIST!  However, anything  watercolour is just fine.

I had lots of fun playing with the few spray colours I have and finally decided on this green one using Dylusions Ink Spray – Dirty Martini!

Once the panel had dried, I started stamping Altnew’s Layered Laurel stamp set. I used Altnew Moss Dye Ink, Brilliance Lightning Black ink, black ink  and gold embossing for the different layers of the leaves.

To complete I cut down my panel before adding it to the card front and stamped a sentiment from on old ‘There She Goes’ stamp set in Brilliance Lightning Black.

Please head over to our blog and check out the wonderfully inspirational work by the rest of the Design Team!  I hope you will find the time to join our challenge this month.  Good luck!
