Hello and welcome
It’s time for the next challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday. Tristan is hosting this week’s “All About Occasions” Challenge .
I hope you can find the time to join in.
This week I’m sharing a diary I have painted. I love thinking of other uses for my stamps and also love painting with acrylics. Each year I paint diaries, notebooks, paper block and other items as I find they make perfect presents. (And I can personalise them too!) At Christmas I take orders too.
Sorry for the odd shape of the photo, but I hadn’t realised that it happened when I stood the diary up for photographing. By the time I realised, I had given it away. It looked great IRL.
To begin, I clean the front of the diary (or item) and stamp with Hero Arts white ink. This one was Hero Arts –
Then with various acrylic paints, I begin to paint in the design. It often takes about 3 or more coats to get the depth, highlights and concentrated colour I’m after.
Once thoroughly dry, I add 2 coats of Jo Sonya matt varnish.
I love how they all turn out and seeing everyone using and admiring their very personal diary! I feel it is a similar idea of moving away from papercrafts as Lee Ann Webber’s stamping on a T-shirt does.
Don’t forget to head over to our blog to check out the wonderful inspiration from the rest of our Design Team.
I look forward to seeing what you create this week!
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit. I love to read your comments.
Have a great day
Cheers
Helen

Wow, Helen, what a beautifully decorated diary! I love the way the colours jump out against the dark cover of the book. You’ve really managed to do a wonderful job of shading, giving the flowers a real 3-D feel. I’m sure the recipients treasure your creations.
