Pretty Perch (Penny Black Saturday Challenge)

Hello and welcome

I’m back with the new  Penny Black Saturday December Challenge! This month the theme is  Anything Goes (Optional – ‘Winter Wonderland!).  I hope you have a chance to join in the fun!

Penny Black Design Team

Winter here in Brisbane Australia is very mild compared to many places and we certainly never see snow! I always loved looking at the snowy scenes (especially on the old Christmas cards!) So right now while we’re in the middle of a heat wave, it was fun to make a snowy scene! )Not sure I feel any cooler!!!

I used the PB Pretty Perch stamp. I have played with this stamp a few times since I bought it about 4 years ago, but this is the first one to be published! đŸ™‚

After adding colour to the stamp and lightly misting it with water, it was stamped on watercolour card.

More colour was added to finish the scene. I’m afraid flowers and pots are more my forte than birds! đŸ˜¦

Texture paste was then added to the areas where snow would have settled and sprinkled with Cool Diamond Glitter. I love all the sparkle on this card.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Please head over to our blog to  check out the wonderfully inspirational work by the rest of the Design Team!

I look forward to seeing what you create!  Good luck!

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit.  I love to read your comments.

Have a great week!

Cheers

Helen

I live in sunny Queensland, Australia with my husband and daughter. Since I was a child, I have always loved to create and have enjoyed all kinds of crafts, sewing and painting. China painting helped develop my understanding of colour and design. Over the last few years card making has taken up a major part of my crafting time as I love to play with new techniques and mediums. Since beginning my blog, entering various challenges has encouraged me to grow my skills and creativity.

    1. Thanks so much, Therese! Sadly once the paste was totally dry the colour had bled into it a bit, so not lovely and white like I wanted. Looks more like the snow is melting! LOL !! I really appreciate your kindness. đŸ™‚

  1. Just gorgeous! As soon as I saw it, I thought it was a watercolor painting reduced to a card size. WOW So glad you could join us at Die Cut Divas for our December “Anything Goes” challenge.

  2. WOW!! This is a gorgeous card, not only the image is so very beautiful but you added so much dimension with the paste, and of course, your coloring of this sweet little bird and the rest of these images brings it all to life.
Thank you for playing along with us at RETRO RUBBER.
Merry Christmas and Health and Peace in 2021.
    Stay healthy and safe.
    Hugs.

  3. Very pretty! We don’t see much snow in New Zealand either, at least in December, but I agree a snowy card still seems like Christmas. I love your textured, glittery snow and the stitched frame is a nice touch too. Thank you for joining us at Retro Rubber Challenge.

  4. Such a sweet traditional image, our local robins are certainly making their presence felt at the moment with their musical tweeting.
Thanks for sharing at Uniko. đŸ™‚

    1. I really appreciate you very kind comments, Julie! It sounds wonderful to hear the robins. I wasn’t too sure about the colours as we don’t have any here in Aus. But so pleased it brought happy thoughts. Thanks so much. Have a lovely Christmas. Take care! đŸ™‚
