Thanks (Time Out GD)

I am honoured to have my card selected as a Top Pick in the recent Flower Challenge. Thanks so much to everyone over at the blog. Here are the kind and supportive comments.

Great card with the clever black and white leaves on the background, and such a pretty flower here too.

Hello and welcome

I’m excited and honoured to be invited as a Guest Designer for Time Out Challenge # 201.

The challenge is to create cards inspired by the words:“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication “ by Leonardo Da Vinci. You can be inspired by any part of the quote.

Sponsoring this challenge is the incredible and very generous CAS-ual Fridays Stamps! You could win a $25 voucher to their amazing store. Our design team will also vote for another winner who gets to join them as guest designer in a future challenge.

I love this quote which made me think of the simple beauty of nature. For this reason I selcted the simple but striking images in Altnew – Tropical Jungle stamp set.

After stamping the tall image in black ink, it was watercoloured with Distress Inks and fussy cut.

The slimline card front was stamped with the longer leaf image in black ink. This was then overlayed with a strip of vellum to soften the look of the stamping.

After adding the coloured image, the simple white heat embossed ‘Thanks’ from the set was added to the bottom with raised tape.

I feel this simple card design has an element of sophistication with this spike of vibrant coloured blooms. I hope you agree.

Be sure to check out the wonderful inspiration from the very talented Design Team over at Time Out.

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit.  I love to read your comments.

Have a good day, stay safe and wishing you a very Happy New Year!

Cheers

Helen

Hello and welcome

Today it’s time for our new challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday! This week Cathy is hosting the Challenge –Anything with a Masculine Twist.

May be an image of text that says "WW WWC329 Cathy's Challenge: All Things Masculine"

My card features House Mouse – Gifts to Tie stamp which was watercoloured with Distress Ink and fussy cut.

SSS & Memory Box – Full Card Bubbles die was cut from a pice of coffee box card that I had painted with Bronze acrylic paint.

This was added to a piece of red gloss card from a perfume package as I wanted something that would really pop through the circles.

Finally, a pice of black card was added along the bottom of the card and MFT – Die-namics Accent – Celebrate die (cut from a scrap of the painted card) was added.

The smaller sentiments from Winnie & Walter -The Big, the Bold and Greetings stamp set were embossed with Ranger Copper embossing powder.

The mouse and parcel were added to the card front on top of some scraps of wrapping paper and ribbons!! I imagined him busy trying to wrap all the presents!! 🙂

Hope it brings a smile!!

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit.  I love to read your comments.

I hope your enjoying some crafty time.

Stay safe and take care

Thinking of You (HLS – Dies)

Hello and welcome

We’re back with the new challenge over at Happy Little Stampers –  Anything Goes with Dies – November .   As always, anything goes in this challenge. So, I hope you’ll find time in  your busy life to join in the fun this month!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 8ff64-hls2bag2bbadge.png

This month, I used one of my favourite dies from Memory Box – Catalina Wreath. It was cut 4 times : 1 white card, 1 white glitter card and 2 from vellum.

The card base was cut with MFT – Stitched Circle STAX. 2 pieces were cut, the back had a small section scored and taped to the back.

The next 2 smaller circles were cut to form a circle frame from white card, then Wink of Stella was added for shimmer. It was then added to the card front.

Next was a small circle with the sentiment from SSS – Seeing Stars set was heat embossed with white sparkle EP.

The wreaths were then added to the front – vellum, card, vellum, glitter card.

Quite a simple card but with an elegant look and lots of shimmer and shine.

Time to head over to our blog to check out the great work by the rest of the Design Team!

I look forward to seeing what you create this month!

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit.  I love to read your comments.

Prize – a $20 voucher!

For this month’s challenge, I decided to make a tag which could be used as a decoration if you wanted, or even a bookmark! For that reason, it is really the size of a mini slimline card!

The PB – Hedgie Joy stamp was stamped and Distress watercoloured and fussy cut.

The Sentiment is from PB – Waddling by .. set stamped on a white strip.

A large star from MFT – Star Stax was cut from gold glitter card.

It was then quick to add all the elements to the tag and add some gold star ribbon on the corner.

I love this cut little hedgie!!

Please head over to our blog to  check out the wonderfully inspirational work by the rest of the Design Team!  I hope you will find the time to join our challenge this month.

WWC328 – Tristan’s Challenge: All About Occasions

I would like to thank Debbie and all the team over at Newton’s Nook – Inky Paws Challlenge for selecting my card as her vafourite! I really appreciated her kind and supportive comments.

Debbie’s FAVE

Helen F. shows off her amazing water coloring skills behind the snoozing critters from the Porch Swing Friends stamp set. She continues the plaid from the background by paper-piecing the blanket on the swing!  A brilliant idea!

Hello and welcome

Today I’m back with a new challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday. Tristan is host for this fortnight’s Watercooler Wednesday Challenge: All About Occasions.

May be an image of text that says "SIONS Everything We Celebrate! Christmas, Easter, New Year's, Valentine's, St. .Patrick's Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Canada Day, Fourth of July, Hallowe'en, Birthdays, Birth, Wedding, Anniversary, Thanks, Sympathy, Congrats And so many more occasions WWC328 Tristan's Challenge: All About Occasions"

My card features this lovely image from Newton’s Nook – Porch Swing Friends! I fell in love with this stamp as soon as I saw it!!

I started by stamping the image and copic colouring. For fun I also did some paper piecing for the throw and cushions. This also gave me the opportunity to give my card some added dimension with all the smaller elements layered up!

As I felt it needed a background, I decided mine was on the edge of a garden. So I again used copics to create some trees, shrubs and flowers and MFT – Small Brick Wall Stencil for a partial brick wall.

Finally, I added some AI – Foliage stamps, using Distress Ink, for some added details for the garden.

The panel was added to some brown card then to the card front covered in DP using fun foam.

The sentiment is from the same set.

Don’t forget to head over to our blog to check out the wonderful inspiration from the rest of our Design Team.

I look forward to seeing what you create this week!

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit.  I love to read your comments.

Stay safe in these difficult times and have a good day

Thinking of You (HLS – Watercolour)

Hello and welcome

Today I’m back with HLS Watercolour Challenge for November, 2021. This year it’s Anything Goes so long as it features watercolour. So easy to join in!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 6e20e-hls2bxmas2btemplate.png

This month, I decided to use the Paper Rose stamp set – Wattle. This Golden Wattle is the Australian floral emblem and is why Australia uses Green and Gold colours for sporting uniforms. There are many different species of wattle and are found in every state of Australia. This Golden Wattle is one of the most common with small, soft, fluffy, pom pom like flowers in late Winter to Spring.

After stamping, the image was watercoloured using Distress Inks and Tombow pens.

The side of the image was fussy cut for a little more impact and added to the black card front panel.

A strip of black and gold was also added.

The sentiment from the same set was white heat embossed.

Please head over to our blog and check out the wonderfully inspirational work by the rest of the Design Team!  I hope you will find the time to join our challenge this month.

I look forward to seeing what you create!  Good luck!

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit.  I love to read your comments.
